Helping older people with a particular focus on the relief of loneliness.
We work with people who have a story to tell - stories of hopes and dreams, careers pursued, ambitions realised, countries visited, of children, grandchildren and friends, a story much like you, the reader, are writing - it's just that the people we work with are further along in the journey of life. Hope Trust exists to make a difference and so for this dynamic group of people we offer help and encouragement to enjoy community, to meet and chat with others at events and interesting activities.
Why the community needs usSeeking to meet the needs of older people by providing a place where they can enjoy community, we organise activities or events that appeal and stimulate; meeting people in a variety of situations, our aim is always to help move people from where they are, closer to where they want to be.
Experience demonstrates that people who stay in some form of community not only improve their mental and physical wellbeing, but can both share, and learn, from each other.
Our impact on the communityLet me allow the people we serve to answer this question - 'Since coming I am so happy, I haven't laughed like this for years.' 'Hope Trust is a warm & friendly place, they will help you.' 'You have become my family.' '2 hours of friendship on a Wednesday morning.' 'Happy verbal banter.' 'A real help to older people on their own and always on the end of a phone if you need them.' 'Sharing & caring.' 'A warm, friendly place to meet new friends.' 'A place to enjoy banter, laughter, games & fun.'
Yes. Specifically we are looking for at least 2 more Trustees, a volunteer admin person as well as people willing to befriend people and meet with them in their own homes once a week.
