This is the only centre in Calderdale specifically designed to meet the needs of young people with severe and complex needs. Their alternatives are staying at home all day or attending centres designed for much older people.
We have already become the 'destination of choice' for many young people when leaving their special school, but we need to expand our facilities to be ready for next year's new Next Steppers
A Prone Stander is device that allows a wheelchair user to 'stand' safely and fully supported. It initially lays flat so that the user can be safely lowered in using a hoist; then straps are fitted to ensure that the user is held safely and securely, and then the stander is lifted until the user is in a standing position. This allows gentle pressure to be put on joints and muscles that otherwise would not happen. read more
