SPARK Learning Centre supports young people excluded from school with an after school study club

Our focus is to enable young people to reach their full potential, gain qualifications and further their education and job opportunities. Our team of helpers are on hand to offer support with homework and queries after school and over the weekend
Why the community needs this charity

We find that many of our students struggling with school have a poor understanding of the basics of English and maths. We teach our students not to be afraid to ask questions, providing a learning environment that is safe, secure and supportive

Results and outcomes

Every session starts with a short mental arithmetic test to find gaps in learning and fill them. This boosts self-confidence and improves mental arithmetic. Pupils can move on to the next level with new skills and can see their progression clearly

Sponsor Joe in the Reading Half Marathon

Please sponsor our Centre Manager Joe. He's running the Reading Half Marathon in support of young people excluded from mainstream education. The marathon is regarded as one of the fastest half marathon courses in the world and is the second biggest half marathon in the UK. Many runners use the event as a warm up for the London Marathon. We would very much appreciate your support as Joe runs the course. Please sponsor him today so that young people can get the right start in education.  read more

SPARK Educare learning centre study club in West Reading helping excluded children

Our main activities focus on young people excluded from mainstream schools. We fill in the gaps in their learning, often small things they do not fully understand or have forgotten due to inadequate practice and revision. Pupils are given a small test at the beginning of every session to measure their progress. As they see how they are improving, their confidence is boosted. We also do activities such clay modelling, drawing, debate and dance so that they can fully express themselves read more
