Balls to this, I'm off to Paris ... AND BACK 2015
My name is Ian Prescott, I am 40yrs old and I live in widnes with my wife and 3 children. I have done a few challenges for charity over the past few years and the last one was to climb Kilimanjaro in Africa. My climb was to raise funds and awareness for Testicular Cancer with the fantastic team at The Mark Gorry Foundation. The Mark Gorry Foundation is a testicular cancer charity that was set up by Mark during his fierce battle with Testicular Cancer in 2009. Marks dream was to raise 1 million pound towards causes supporting those going through cancer & raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer and encourage men to check themselves regularly. Mark fell asleep in 2009 and since that day there has been a team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to help make Marks dream come true and ensure that the legacy is carried forward by raising money in events all over the North West. To find out more please visit their web page - www.themarkgorryfoundation.co.uk. SO THE CHALLENGE--- I am going ride a bike from my home town of Widnes to Paris, France and BACK AGAIN!!! Almost 1000 miles in 10 days... The thing is... I am NOT a cyclist.. The furthest I have ridden a bike in the past 10 years is about 20 miles... To the local park and back with the kids!! But philosophy is, 'if your gonna do it, do it big.'.. My wife says its a mid life crisis but if you want people to support you, you have to do something extreme. So why MGF?? Everybody knows a male who is aged between 18 - 40 yrs but I'll a small minority are aware of how to check themselves correctly. Testicular Cancer is 95% curable if caught early enough, so I think that the money raised is far better served raising awareness and possibly preventing it. If we can save 1 young mans life then 10 days of agony and 'saddle rash' is more than worth it.So it's now down to me to train hard to justify this appeal and you guys to support me by giving anything you can to help me. Thank you in advance.
Just another lil bit for you kid !!!! ????????????
Good Luck Ian. Thanks
