Blandford & Sturminster Hockey Club is an England Hockey affiliated and ClubsFirst accredited club
We aim to provide hockey in a friendly and safe environment to all who want to play, coach or umpire in the local community. We have Ladies,Mens, Mixed and Junior sections of our club. We offer league and friendly hockey and will develop teams and individuals to play and compete to the best of their ability. We promote hockey to schools and the community by running tournaments and supporting sports staff in local schools as well as through advertising.
Why the community needs usWe offer the opportunity to learn to play hockey in an area where it is not played in many schools. We believe our sport and club will allow youngsters to learn the importance of teamwork,discipline and respect. We have England Hockey qualified coaches who are trained to teach and progress players from beginner to academy level. We provide separate coaching for Men and Ladies and run age group mixed sessions for juniors. We have a subscription structure which allows our club to be inclusive.
Our impact on the communityWe have two ladies and two mens teams playing league hockey. We have a ladies development team of adults,older juniors and 'back to hockey' players playing friendly fixtures. We have juniors playing in U10,U12 and U14 7 a side tournaments. We run adult and junior coaching sessions weekly through the season ( Junior sessions for Girls 11+ or mixed 11+ and 7-11yrs) We have juniors progressing through the England Hockey Single System to the regional academy who have learnt hockey with us.
