We equip young people aged 10-16 with employability skills and raise their aspirations.
Our workshops focuses on employability skills and literary skills to boost self confidence, communication skills, presentation skills and team work; to raise aspirations of young people. After the workshops, the trained young people are well equipped to participate in specially organised debating competition, this is an opportunity for the young people to practice the skills they've learnt. Young people that take part in our programmes are givem the oppportunity to become our young ambassador.
Why the community needs usOver a million unemployed young people (we want our young ambassadors to be employable) Our Programmes have a huge impact on each and everyone involved. There is evidence from research and inspection data (Ofsted) that classroom debate helped pupils develop confidence and present their ideas more clearly. Particular values from debating were found to include: broadening horizons, improving critical thinking skills and developing greater cultural awareness.
Our impact on the communityWe are a user-led organisation, as all our young participants become young ambassadors after participating in our projects, this allows them to influence our projects. All our young beneficiaries have better self confidence, improved communication and presentation skills and an understanding of what team work really is about. More so it will help the young people to perform better academically which is a good investment for community. In 2011-2012 we engaged and supported 250 young people.
Yes, we are always on the look out for keen hardworking volunteers to come on board and join us at Brighter Steppings.
