A young people's organisation that supports young people's development through involving them in ins

Based in Lyme Regis, B Sharp works with young people across West Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset. B Sharp involves children and young people in inspiring music making activities, through which they develop musical skills and build confidence and self-esteem and are valued for their contribution both as individuals and to wider society.
We support our young people to become the next generation of musicians, through our training and progression programmes.
We work with schools, youth and community settings, including those that support vulnerable young people, to ensure young people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, can access the transformative benefits of music making.

Why the community needs usB Sharp welcomes all young people regardless of their ability, background or circumstances. We provide safe and supportive opportunities for young people to be creative and to socialise, to develop new skills and make new friends. We help nurture young people's interest and talent, including young people who face barriers to taking part in music making through disability, social emotional or mental health issues, rural isolation or economic hardship. We seize every possible opportunity to involve the widest possible group of young people in making music.

Our impact on the communityYoung people who take part in B Sharp activities tell us that they become more confident, develop their musical skills and their ability to socialise and make new friends. Our older participants develop the transferable and leadership skills they need to progress towards future employment and education. Our music leaders are able to develop their professional skills and specialist expertise through their work with us, and our rural community is enlivened by the exciting, aspirational opportunities and performances of young people's original music!
