Citizens Advice Shropshire (CAS) is an independent charity delivering information and advice services to the residents of Shropshire. We are the only countywide generalist advice agency and serve over 306,000 residents. We help individuals to make best use of their income and become more effective at managing their finances. Homelessness can also be prevented. Individual stress can be reduced leading to improved health and relationships.
Why the community needs usWe offer free support in the following main subject areas:- Benefits, Consumer, Debt, Employment, Housing, Immigration and Nationality, Relationships, Taxes. We provide information and advice by telephone, letter and face to face. CAS also undertakes specific projects that provide generalist and/or specialist casework services in Debt.
Our impact on the communityHomelessness averted saving £2.3 million for society in 2013/14. In the same year £9 million debt managed with clients. £1.3 million income gain to our clients and 6.5K in debt written off. Over 8k of clients helped with 9.5K issues through assisted information and almost 16k issues through advice and casework. All this in 25.000 contacts with clients and another 5,400 contacts with third parties. Over 95% client satisfaction.
