Providing services to residents in the Stamford area.
Christ Church provides services in the Stamford area to support the neediest and most vulnerable of all ages in the local community, through social outreach projects. In addition to the Priest-in-Charge, there are 6 part-time staff, helped by nearly 200 volunteers. This work is funded and supported by the church family, the nearby community, local commerce and businesses, and various trusts, and is carried out in close partnership with many other organizations in and around the town.
Why the community needs usFor the local community, Christ Church aims to be a "Place to Belong". The social programmes and outreach activities are all firmly established and well used, and one of the programmes was recently voted as the most popular community programme of the year in the local area.
Our impact on the community
Volunteers are needed for all of the outreach and social programmes. These programmes include Working With Families (mothers and toddlers group), Teenzone (youth), Startafresh (vulnerable and disadvantaged adults), the Day Centre (for the elderly) and the Community Transport Scheme. Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of functions, including general support, driving, cooking, coordination and administration.
