Supporting the Hospital of St Cross and Community and Mental Health Services in Rugby
The charity seeks to enhance the experience of patients in Rugby through the delivery of a range of voluntary services and to support and show appreciation for the NHS staff serving the community. We are particularly interested in supporting initiatives which bring services nearer to the people of Rugby.
Why the community needs usWe are staffed entirely by volunteers and so aim that 98p in every pound donated is spent on equipment which is over and above that which can be provided by the NHS.
Our impact on the communityWe have donated over £3 million for equipment and towards improving facilities at the Hospital and in the Community and Mental Health services in Rugby. There is hardly a department that has not benefited from the Friends help over the years. Recent donations range in value from £16 to £30,000. We have bought a diverse range of items including pulse/oxygen meters for use at home, exercise bikes for cardiac rehab and a vehicle taking retinal screening services to the community.
We are always in need of volunteers to deliver our wide range of services which include help desks and a tea bar as well as supporting a Patient feeding Scheme, Patient Impressions survey, Helping Hands in Theatre and Speech and Language Therapy. We also have opportunities for volunteers who can help with fundraising, collections and the day to day operations.
