Green Shoes Arts exists to enable people to create positive change through the arts
We know that being involved with the arts as a participant or as a viewer can have a profound effect on people's lives; whether it is running a film project for young people at risk of exclusion or giving adults with learning difficulties the chance to create stories and perform in front of an audience, we know that life is made more enjoyable and rewarding when we spend time doing something creative with a group of friends, old and new.
Why the community needs us"Green Shoes Arts develops projects where people can meet and make work together. It is an organisation that listens and responds to its participants - their interests, needs and desires. Over the past five years, Green Shoes Arts has created opportunities where ideas of community can be considered, negotiated and realised". --Dr Caoimhe McAvinchey, Senior Lecturer, Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, Queen Mary, University of London
Our impact on the communitySince founding in 2009 we have run a total of 71 projects for a total of 3454 extraordinary participants. We have put on 37 performances in front of 2611 audience members. We have supported 244 young people to achieve Arts Award accreditation, including 9 to Gold standard, and celebrated with 4 Jack Petchey Award Winners. We have worked with 143 amazing artists and 27 incredible volunteers, two Arts Admin Interns and a handful of Work Placements from local schools. We have also had lots of fun!
Energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
