Take It From Here

The "Take It From Here" project began in 2008 when several members of the Finchampstead Handbell Ringers were able to play music to a higher standard. We had witnessed elderly people in care homes "locked in their own worlds", through loneliness and lack of stimulation, so we felt that this was where our project would make the most impact. We took our handbell music to the residents of local care homes, and were pleased to receive such a positive response from the residents there!

Why they need our service

There is little to no finance available for entertaining the elderly in care homes, sheltered housing and day centres. Music can be a wonderful way to encourage activity and participation, and make elderly people feel valued and worthwhile. In recent years, the work started by the "Take It From Here" project has been continued by "Inspiration", and now "Inspiration International". Our mission remains the same: to enrich the lives of the young and elderly in the community through handbell music.

Plan and expected results

Our aim is that many other groups join us in bringing joy and laughter to those who would otherwise be left in loneliness. We promote what we do wherever we can and continue to ask for others to help. We are encouraged to think that, by seeing our work in the community, other handbell groups will start similar projects, and this valuable work will spread nationwide.
