HMH Is a voluntary organisation that gives people from the North East or Cumbria who have or are recovering from cancer a weeks holiday with the family or carer in South West Scotland or North East Northumberland. The organisation is very aware how important it is that people with cancer have time away from Hospitals & Treatments. Time to be with family and friends to relax, rejuvenate and have some fun making great new memories.
Why the community needs usIt is really important for people to have time away whether having treatment for cancer/ recovering from cancer. A week away from hospital appointments & treatments. Time with family and friends to relax, rejuvenate, have some fun & make some great memories. Money can be very tight due to low income/being on benefits when people have cancer. In addition, insurance is often not easy for travel abroad with certain cancers. Key benefits - Time to relax with family .. Help if money is tight.
Our impact on the communityFeedback from people who have been on HMH holidays is really positive. "Thank you for everything - We certainly had a memorable holiday." Also ... "I can't thank you enough it'a a holiday we will never forget. My parents came up for the day were very moved with everything HMH is doing for people like myself. Tears of joy all round. Thank you.
