We promote Cycling to all people of all abilities. Our motto' Enjoy the Journey!
We aim to improve the quality of peoples' lives, their health, finances and contribute to a sustainable environment and future for us all. We work with the general population through cycle training and cycle maintenance as well as disabled and disadvantaged people. We work with the visually impaired, youth projects, people with mental health problems and even offenders in Bristol Prison through our bike recycling project.
Why the community needs usWe help make the local community better for all. More children and adults getting the benefits of cycling, more integrated communities as people don't just travel in cars, improving physical activity.
Our projects working with disabled people and those with mental health issues give a real sense of achievement and confidence. Jackie, a participant in our mental health project said "The project has been amazing. I am now more confident and healthy and have even been able to get a job!"
Our impact on the communityWe get people cycling. A survey of our adult cycle trainnig saw 90% taking up cycling regularly after their lesson. Furthermore, 6 months later 70% had kept up those initial cycling levels! Our Tandem rides for disabled people are popular. One of our blind riders said: I had a brilliant time and felt so excited and free at the back of my Tandem.
Since September 2010 we have also made 150 bikes available to people on low incomes through our recycling project with offenders at Bristol Prison
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic cyclist? Do you enjoy supporting others?
We are looking for experienced cyclists to join our Bike Minded group cycle rides as volunteers.
As a ride volunteer your role is to be a friendly, supportive and encouraging presence on the rides, helping participants feel comfortable and at ease in the group and helping to motivate and encourage new and returning cyclists by sharing your enthusiasm for cycling.
