Addressing the needs and concerns of the LGB&T community within the London borough of Redbridge
Redbridge Rainbow Community exists to seriously raise the profile and address the concerns and interests on LGB&T individuals and communities, living, working and socialising in the London Borough of Redbridge; and to liaise with numerous organisations / departments in the borough in the interests of ensuring LGBT issues are properly taken on board.
Why the community needs usMany LGBT people within LB Redbridge may be very isolated, and often due to fear, are not "Out" to others about their sexuality or gender identity. Unlike many Inner London Boroughs, Redbridge does not have any obvious Meeting Focal Points where less confident LGBT people can feel free to gather and be open about themselves.
Our aim is to allow the voices of LGB&T people living, working, socialising and studying in Redbridge to have a voice about their community, and to live a life without fear
Our impact on the communityWe work closely with other community groups within the London Borough of Redbridge aswell as Redbridge Council, The Met police LGBT Liasion Team, Safer Neighbourhoods Team and other LGB&T groups in neighbouring boroughs.
We are begining to be heard within Redbridge and our work with Faith Groups and the police will continue to educate hearts and minds to the LGB&T cause and the safe reporting of homophobic crimes.
We are looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of our work from leaflet distribution to attending meetings.
Volunteers from the LGB&T community are welcome but LGB&T friendly people are also welcome!
Trustee and committee places are also wanted
