Door to door transport in fully accessible vehicles for disabled and mobility restricted people.
Slough Community Transport(Out & About) provides a door to door accessible affordable transport service for mobility restricted people and for people who have great difficulty or are unable to use public transport
also povides a
ShopMobility service which is the provision of electric scooters and wheelchairs for mobility restricted people to gain access to Slough Town Centre to do their shopping.
Therefore improving the quality of life of mobility restricted people.
Why the community needs usBy the provision of an affordable accessible transport service mobility restricted people are able to once again take part in the life of the community and do the following things which without transport they were excluded:-
Go shopping,have a day at the seaside, go to work, become a volunteer, meet friends in town, visit family and friends. SCTS is helping to reduce social isolation and exclusion therfore improving the health and wellbeing of an already disadvantaged sector of the community.
Our impact on the communityThe provision of a door to door accessible transport service is acheiving the following results:-
Enabling disabled people to remain independent for longer by providing transport which allows them to do such basic tasks as shopping therefore helping them to remain in their own homes for longer and not have to go into a care home.
Improving the quality of life of disabled people by providing them with an accessible transport service wherby they are no-longer being prisoners in their own homes.
Drivers - D1 Licence holders required to drive specially adapted minibuses. MiDAS training provided. SCTS provides door to door transport in specially adapted vehicles for mobility restricted people enabling them to enjoy a quality of life not possible without this transport.
Passenger Assistants
Required to assist members using the door to door transport service. Assisting people from their homes onto the vehicles and accompaning them during their journey into town.
