Suffolk Artlink works to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people through participation in art activities. We believe in the instrumental value of the arts and promote participation in creative activities as a positive way of improving health and wellbeing for disadvantaged people. We achieve this through providing a varied programme of projects. The projects all have a focus on being creative together - either in pairs or small groups or within the wider community.
Why the community needs usSuffolk Artlink delivers a programme of arts activities for disadvantaged or vulnerable people in the community. We currently work with four main groups of people delivering a variety of participatory arts activities. Older people - those living independently and those in care, people with learning disabilities, young people - those at risk of social or educational exclusion and those in hospitals and hospices, and family carers.
Our impact on the communityEngaging in high quality creative activity improves health and wellbeing, reduces social isolation and increases skills and confidence. In 2014/15 we worked with 2,218 people across Suffolk with an audience of 33,664 people. 54 artists were employed and we worked with over 100 other organisations and community groups.
