Running the Manchester Marathon for local foodbank
I have been volunteering for my local food bank for nearly 2 years. Over that time, One Can Trust has been providing food parcels to up to 850 people every single week (about half of whom are children). The charity is a tremendous asset to the local community - in addition to providing food for households who are struggling, there is a clothes bank, toddler group, community cafe sessions and cookery classes.
I would like to use the marathon as an opportunity to raise vital funds for this very worthwhile cause. It’s on 14 April, and I am half way through my training - 60km last week and slightly more this week. Just 3 more Sunday long runs before the real thing 😀.
One Can Trust is based in High Wycombe and serves the town and the wider area of South Buckinghamshire. It is run by a small staff team, alongside 300 incredible volunteers. It received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service last year in recognition of the work the charity does.
Well done Emily - and a brilliant cause to run for too ! Sue x
Congratulations Emily! What an amazing achievement!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful donations so far. We went to Manchester for the weekend to check out the route and to see the dreaded hill in Altrincham - not too bad thankfully!
Emily's fundraising page will be accepting donations for another 22 days.
