I'm a Trustee for Martineau Gardens and for the fifth year in a row, I'll be donning my running shoes for the Gardensto take part in the Great Birmingham Run. Martineau Gardens is a vital resource for our community: as well as being a beautiful place to explore, the Gardens are a lifeline to many of the volunteers who help look after the site through the Therapeutic Horticulture Programme. When I've had a busy day, I like to unwind at my allotment, dig up a potato or two or pick an apple, but for many of these volunteers, gardening is much more than a hobby. In fact gardening at Martineau Gardens gives them a reason not to give up when the going gets tough. The Gardens are a place where vulnerable people feel valued. It costs £250 a day to run the Gardens and they rely on donations - so please dig deep and give generously. If you would like to know more about how Martineau Gardens help vulnerable people and others, watch their film at: http//www.martineau-gardens.org.uk/about-us/what-is-a-community-garden/
Many congratulations.
