August 2015 marks the seven year anniversary of Tower Tours. Since we opened the tower to the public, our guides have taken over 140,000 visitors to see the beautiful views of Bath while furnishing them with interesting historical facts. Over 14,000 tours have taken place in that time so you would be forgiven for thinking that the guides would want a bit of a rest from all those stairs…you would be mistaken! Inspired by the huge success of Edward, Laura, Charles and Jeremy on their Footprint walk, the Tower Tour guides wanted to do something to raise money for the Footprint Project and on the 12 August will be undertaking a Three Peaks Tower Challenge. We will be climbing to the top of the tower (that’s 212 steep steps) 70 times within four hours to reach the equivalent of 3407 metres; the combined height of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis – mountains scaled in the National Three Peaks Challenge. The guides are used to climbing at a leisurely pace once an hour up to six times a day so having to do approximately ten trips each in quick succession will test our endurance and we will really need your support!
