A natural, unhurried early years education, with creativity, care and community at its heart.
Beechtree is a community run charity that provides Steiner pre-school education for 3-6 year olds and parent & child groups (from birth-three) in North Leeds. At Beechtree our children grow in a secure and caring environment, surrounded by quality natural toys and materials that allow the children to develop physical and social skills along with creative and imaginative play that together form a wonderful foundation for life.
Why the community needs usBeechtree offers something different for parents and children. We provide a natural and unhurried play and learning environment where children are free to be themselves and discover life at their own pace, and where creative, imaginative play and outdoor learning are at the heart of what we do. For parents we offer the choice of a different type of care for 0-6 year olds. There is a strong sense of community within Beechtree with volunteering days and seasonal community celebrations.
Our impact on the communityOver 300 families have benefited from Beechtree since it started. Feedback from parents show that they really value the unique care it provides:"The emphasis on creative and social skills, learning little songs and routines together, and being aware of the natural world, has given our children such a rich fund to draw on.""My children had such a brilliant time at Beechtree - there is nothing else like it. It really allows them to play and find out things for themselves along the way"
We have a range of volunteering opportunities -as a trustee helping manage the day to day running of Beechtree;in the office, helping with admin; in the garden, looking after our outdoor space; or in the kindergarten, caring for children.Safeguarding is a priority for Beechtree and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Enhanced CRBs are required. We also expect everyone to work within the distinct Steiner ethos and to be a good role model for children.
