British Pakistani Christians Ltd work for disadvantaged people living in deprived wards of Redbridge
Our services delivered through Clementswood Community Centre, are community-focused and aimed at achieving engagement, social-integration and safer, healthier communities. These include; Installation of public art, Community cohesion events/BBQ's,Engaging volunteers within events focused on lively, well-integrated and healthy society,Family Sporting activities, reducing crime with local police and council, free Debt Management advice and homeless support via a soup kitchen and winter shelter.
Why the community needs usWe were responsible for the extension of our local "controlled Drinking Zone" over a further 5 wards. Reducing alcohol related crime by over 50%. Our centre is now a hub of free services for the local community, at which we have already given 13 young offenders an opportunity to learn new art skills. Our group was responsible for the Redbridge Peace Monument, llford's first public art-piece.Our centre now has over 300 registered users, 52 deprive children access free dance or gymnastics classes
Our impact on the communityOver 12 Young offenders have received free counselling during community art workshops at our community centre,they stated it has changed their lives and they are thinking of moving away from crime as a consequence. Over 100 youths joined our anti-knife peace walk in 2009 our peace monument is a popular location for schools to discuss the futility of knife crime.
We are seeking volunteers for our wide-ranging services in Ilford that include; public events, helping the homeless, free gymnastics and dance classes focused on reduction of obesity and healthy living, art workshops and much more.
