Cheylesmore Community Centre hosts many group activities, promoting inclusion in the community.
We facilitate local groups in order to provide a platform for community growth and social inclusion. We provide new opportunities for local residents to become more involved in the community, especially where gaps or shortfalls in provision have been identified. Offering a range of accessible sports, educational and social clubs for all age ranges, we aim to facilitate these groups as best we can by providing a safe and pleasant environment in which they can operate.
Why the community needs usThe centre provides a safe and pleasant environment for people of all ages and all cultural backgrounds to come together to enjoy weekly activities. Our groups offer an opportunity to for local youths to try new things, such as graffiti art classes and football training. We also facilitate educational classes for adults with learning difficulties. Promoting fitness for all ages, local residents can access all sorts of classes from general fitness to special interests, such as cycling clubs.
Our impact on the communityThe activities we run for local youths have aided in diverting attention away from negative behavior and offer ways in which they can feel included in the community they live in. Many of the older generation in the locality rely on the over 60's club as their only opportunity to meet others socially throughout the week. Our preschool provides daytime care for many local children, which also enables parents to network. Our sports clubs are a way for people to meet and to share common interests.
We are looking for a team of volunteers who can support various aspects of the life and work of Cheylesmore Community Centre. You can apply for an application form from paulj@cheylesmorecentre.co.uk or speak in person by dropping into the centre.
