Greater Manchester Youth Network - enabling young people to participate, develop and achieve.
Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) was set up out of the passion its founding members had for volunteering and the benefits it can bring, particularly for young people. Our vision is to make volunteering, social action, entrepreneurship and other positive activities, which lead to increased well-being, aspirations, skills and experience, available to all young people regardless of their ability, status or background.
Why the community needs usWe believe in the abilities of even the most excluded young people to be active citizens and make positive changes in their lives and the lives of those around them. The main benefits our work gives to the community are - more opportunities for young people; increased employability of young people; fewer instances of anti-social behaviour; improved image of young people within society; better relationship between cultures and generations; increased pride in local communities.
Our impact on the communityGMYN's overall aim is to enable young people to achieve better life outcomes and make a more successful transition into adulthood.GMYN provides young people with increased belief, aspirations, confidence and motivation so they have the resilience to pursue opportunities and live successful, happy, independent lives.GMYN provides young people with skills, experience and accreditation to support them to access employment and further education.GMYN increases youth participation.
Greater Manchester Youth Network offers a variety of volunteering opportunities, from general support roles to more specific tasks, such as working on our newsletter. At the moment we really need people to help with our service that links young people wanting to volunteer with organisations that need volunteers. We're also interested in hearing from anyone who could help GMYN make better use of social media.
