We facilitate social inclusion for people with mobility problems and disabilities to enable independence and access - transport for when they want to go not when someone else wants to take them.
Why the community needs usOur service enables our members to connect with their communities and experience an enhanced quality of life. Our members are people living in their own homes in Norwich and Norfolk where their mobility problems and disabilities are so severe that they are unable to access public transport or use the volunteer car schemes. We do this by providing fully accessible mini bus transport services with affordable fares to our target group, those people who have low incomes and resources.
Our impact on the communityWe have seen an incredible growth year on year and have increased bookings by 50% since 2003. This is a result in part due to an increase in members, but also an increased in member activity, we now have seven buses. Last year, April 2011-January 2012, we ran 19,230 trips total, 6374 of these were wheelchair users, and we expect to make 22,000 journeys by the end of the year. Next year, with the addition of a new bus, we expect to increase our journeys by 10% (to 24,200)
