VAANI is the voice of Asian Women and People with Learning Disabilities.

Vaani's aim is to help Asian women get better at the usage of English language by helping them to learn to write creatively. It will help the Asian women to get better at their art and craft and eventually be able to integrate better in the society. Vaani will create a platform for people with learning disabilities so that their voices could be heard in the society by using various Arts forms and mediums.
Why the community needs this charity

Both Asian Women and people with learning disabilities are faced with lack of confidence and separation from the society. This is due to lack of confidence in using the English language. Or for people with learning disabilities lack of quality service providers in their vicinity. VAANI creates informal atmosphere where they feel comfortable to speak out and to learn and gain confidence via any Art medium. Our two events in a year raises their confidence and help better integration with society.

Results and outcomes

ZAHARA with learning disabilities & epilepsy, started writing amazing poetry during our Literature classes. She read one of her poems in VAANI's event enthralling the audience. The same poem was published in Ilford Recorder. Her confidence level grew and she has now started to work towards getting herself an independent life. The Art/craft classes for people with learning disabilities has now got a chance to put their work forward for Tate Modern Exhibition.
