VAANI's vision is to push boundaries to achieve full potential. We work with disadvantaged groups of people i.e. Asian women and people with learning disabilities, building confidence and opening possibilities. Art forms and other recreational activities are not only therapeutic but they also enrich an individuals' experience of life rendering it meaningful. VAANI helps disadvantaged people to integrate better within the society via the medium of Art.
Why the community needs usBoth people with learning disabilities and Asian Women are faced with lack of confidence and separation from the society. This is due to lack of confidence in using the English language or for people with learning disabilities, lack of quality service providers in their vicinity. VAANI creates informal atmosphere where they feel comfortable to speak out and to learn and gain confidence via any Art medium. Our two events in a year raises their confidence and help better integration with society.
Our impact on the communityZAHARA with learning disabilities & epilepsy, started writing amazing poetry during our Literature classes. She read one of her poems in VAANI's event enthralling the audience. The same poem was published in Ilford Recorder. Her confidence level grew and she has now started to work towards getting herself an independent life. The Art/craft classes for people with learning disabilities put their work forward for competition and two of their art work were displayed in Tate Modern LD week exhibition
