Healthy Minds, Calderdale's only independent, service user led, mental health charity

To provide a range of services to people who have experienced or been affected by mental distress. We have a holistic approach and support people to take an active part in their recovery and wellbeing.

Why the community needs us
Healthy Minds is the working name of Calderdale Wellbeing, a mental health charity based in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
We define mental health not just as the absence of distress but as a state of wellbeing in which each person realises their own potential. We recognise different factors can affect people's wellbeing and so we provide a range of services for people according to their needs.
Only 25-35% of people with mental health problems access treatment at all; the remainder self-manage to varying degrees of success. Healthy Minds offers a service to anyone who identifies as having mental health need.
We believe people are always doing the best they can and, provided with opportunities and support, they can thrive.

Our impact on the community
Healthy Minds has offered services throughout Calderdale since 2009, and around 30,000 people have come into contact with us since then.
Our most recent impact study found that:
· 80% people reported improvements in such areas as self-worth, coping with life’s ups and downs, feeling less isolated, having opportunities and achievable goals, contentment and confidence.· 95% people felt that Healthy Minds is a vital part of mental health support in Calderdale
