Fighting Testicular Cancer through Awareness, Education, Support and our 'Love Your Balls' campaign.
The Mark Gorry Foundation, a Testicular Cancer charity, was set up by Mark Gorry during his fierce battle with Testicular Cancer (TC) in 2009. He wanted to support services which helped him through his illness as well as making sure that young men are more aware of the signs and symptoms of TC, promoting the importance of early detection. Since 2009, Mark's friends, family and Volunteers have been working tirelessly to raise funds and awareness to drive the foundation towards Mark's goals.
Why the community needs usSchools, colleges, workplaces, Men, Women and Children tell us all of the time that awareness and education is needed for Testicular Cancer and more men should be shown how to complete a self check. More work is needed so that 'ball checking' becomes a common pastime for our young men, driving a movement towards more male focused campaigns and engagement for Men's health. Our volunteers love helping to spread the word about TC, getting out and about in the community making a real difference!
Our impact on the communityOur two main goals are to; raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of Testicular Cancer and to raise funds towards a massive £1 million target. We also aim to provide support to those experiencing Cancer - not limited to Testicular cancer. For this year, we hope to raise over £40,000 towards our fundraising target whilst continuing our work out in the community, whether this is through events or awareness. 2014 is going to be a huge year for us - help us smash our target & do some great work!
At The MGF, we are always looking for Volunteers to help us achieve our goals. If you are enthusiastic and passionate about making a difference, then get in touch today.
