Warminster Shopmobility lets people with mobility problems have their independence back.
Warminster Shopmobility supply electric scooters and manual wheelchairs to anyone who has a mobility impairment irrespective of age or financial situation. They are the only organisation within a twenty mile radius to offer this service and have frequent referrals from local doctors and hospitals.
Why the community needs usWarminster has a large elderly population, many of whom have mobility problems and find it difficult to get about. Warminster Shopmobility hires out mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs so these people can access the town and local services without having to rely on others. This keeps them involved in the community and not isolated at home. Many people cannot afford to buy scooters or do not have the space to keep them so hiring from us at affordable rates helps them to stay active.
Our impact on the communityEach year Warminster Shopmobility see an increase in the number of users, around 15%. Many come on a regular basis to shop or meet friends in town. Others may have relatives visiting and need a short term hire. We have frequent referals from doctors for people with broken limbs or after surgery. Without our service, these people would be unable to get about as there is no other service offered in our area. "What would we do without you" is often heard from our customers.
