Youth Moves is all about starting journeys & inspiring the lives of young people through youth work
Youth Moves aims to help young people to grow, develop, learn and stay safe as they negotiate their path through their youth. We work with young people where they are, to help them to raise their aspirations, stay out of trouble, and be positive for their futures. We work with young people in some of the most deprived communities in the country, but we always focus on strengths and assets in the community and with the individuals that we work with. We do this by providing a range of services where young people can come, feel safe, meet friends and work with professional youth workers to develop life skills, be challenged and learn and reflect as they progress. We provide everything from one to one support and mentoring, to more open access youth club provision, targeted small group work tackling issues like healthy relationships, personal safety, respect and acceptable behaviour, drugs & alcohol, gangs and knife crime, sexuality and identity, teamwork, communication and much more.
Why the community needs usYouth Moves plays a vital role locally supporting over 1000 young people a year from South Bristol. We are based at The Park Local Opportunity Centre in Knowle West and provide a number of services from this site, as well as across the wider community. We have long-standing partnerships with local community organisations, the police, local schools/ colleges, Housing and Community Associations, and have a strong track of addressing youth issues and perceived youth nuisance through joint-working.
Our impact on the communityOur charity has been recognised nationally for it's outcomes (we won the national Children and Young People Now Youth Work award in 2015 - regarded as the Oscars of the charity sector) and is well-regarded locally. but it is a time of unprecedented cuts and we need your support to continue these services. Youth Moves helps young people to change their lives for the better and works with those most marginalised in our society to help them to feel a part of the community and to contribute to it. .
