Using fishing as a tool, students, youth/adult offenders, community groups with learning difficulties; disabilities; on the verge of being excluded from school or being sent to prison. Enables the students not only to learn about fishing but to learn about the weather, nature, fishery management and watercraft. Delivering fun and interactive training in the sport of angling; demonstrating that there are viable alternatives to crime and anti social behaviour.

Our impact on the communityThe benefits of the Academy:
Delivering fun and interactive training in the sport of angling.
Use angling to create interesting activities for young, disadvantaged & people with special needs.
Demonstrating there are viable alternatives to crime and anti-social behaviour.
As an Academy we deliver:
Social Inclusion.
Reductions in anti-social behaviour.
Improve educational standards.
Reduction in truancy & exclusions from school.
Develop understanding between all ages in the community.
Fishing or none fishing volunteers, retired carpenters to help pass on life skills. People from all walks of life acceptable (Fire, Police, Ambulance, Teachers etc).
Fishing courses on a 1 day a week programme at present. Future plans to extend on a daily basis. Volunteers can attend as and when avalable.
Volunteers will require CRB checks as will be working with vulnerable children & adults. If volunteers wish to progress, courses will be arranged by the Academy.
