We aim to provide affordable workspaces for local artists to practice and exhibit their work.
We seek suitable accommodation in un-used buildings and convert them into individual secure studios for use by local artists, (amateur & professional) who would otherwise not be able to practice or improve their skills. The artists rent their studio and have free access. The charity meets the running and maintenance costs and management of the site. Artists are expected to assist in education, tutoring and mentoring new and aspiring artists.
Why the community needs usWe aim to provide affordable workspaces to local artists & the local community. We offer working studio spaces as well as an exhibition & workshop space: The Barn. We are located in the south of Leamington Spa, in the Old Town.
Our impact on the communityArtists know that the hub of their creative process lies within their studio. It is their second home, the core of their artistic being where they think, reflect, dream, aspire and produce. It indicates the sort of artist they areand to some the kind of person. The studio can be anywhere. It can be your sketchbook, study, your laptop, I-pad, camera, inside your head. We are told that it does not have to be a particular place but the artists seem to like the comfort of a second home.
We do need volunteers! We need people who are happy to give their time to help increase the local, and wider, awareness of Althorpe Studios & Gallery. We really need people to let us know if they would like to invigilate exhibitions, help run workshops, perhaps help set-up a monthly newsletter, help with establishing a dedicated 'Althorpe' website? We really do also need people to help with researching & applying for grants, funding opportunities, and other revenue sources.
