Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged communities in Birmingham and the Black Country; helping people to help themselves.
Our aims are:
to help local people provide local solutions to local community needs;
to build an endowment fund to provide long-term, on-going support;
to stimulate new initiatives and partnerships within the community;
to enable people and business with the opportunity to maximise their charitable giving.
Why the community needs usTo work with the community supporting local voluntary and community activity through a programme of constructive grant making and capacity building; we are able to award grants to grassroots groups.
To work with local donors by pooling the donations of philanthropically minded individuals and community-minded companies into an Endowment Fund; providing a permanent and growing fund for activites that strengthen communities today and in perpetuity.
Our impact on the communityBirmingham & Black Country Community Foundation supports on average well over 700 community and voluntary projects each year; and in our financial year ending March 2010 we distributed over £4.2 million in grants to 924 grassroots projects. We continue to provide an invaluable service to enable companies, families, individuals and Government bodies achieve this goal that is now top of the corporate social responsibility agenda.
