We offer free, confidential, impartial and independent advice on any subject. As well as providing the advice people need to face their problems, we work with partner organisations in the local community to provide additional services. We can offer specialist advice on debt and housing problems and have many years experience of dealing with benefit issues. Our Friends Group raises awareness of our charity and funds to allow us to continue this valuable work in the heart of our local community.
Why the community needs usLast year in the UK one in five people sought advice on housing, employment, debt and benefits. The demand for advice within Broxtowe already exceeds supply and the need for advice is only going to increase due to benefit changes and the state of the economy. We are one of very few local, free, independent, impartial and confidential services which can offer people solutions to their problems. We offer both face to face and telephone advice to ensure we reach every part of our community.
Our impact on the communityIn 2011/12 we dealt with over 32,000 enquiries with debt and benefits being our largest enquiry area. We assisted clients gain over £2.9 million of additional benefits. This is money that can potentially be released and spent locally to support the Broxtowe economy.
We can offer a variety of different volunteer roles ranging from administration, reception, information assistants, fundraisers and advisors. Please contact us through Citizens Advice website (www.citizensadvice.org.uk)
