Moving forward the local community, promoting regeneration and preventing social and economic decline
East Durham Trust is the flagship Voluntary and Community Sector support organisation for the area. We enable local charitable and community groups to achieve their objectives through bespoke funding and development advice and support, also offering groups the opportunity to network and share best practice. We operate a volunteer centre, matching individuals to suitable opportunities.
We are unique in that we manage a range of projects and contracts to the benefit of the local area.
Why the community needs usThe East Durham area is one of the most deprived wards nationally, displaying all of the classic symptoms of an impoverished community including high unemployment, lower income rates, poor skills and qualification attainment, significant health inequalities and so on.
The Trust aims to address and alleviate some of these problems, primarily by providing support to local groups which deal directly with issues at a grassroots level. We also manage a range of projects which respond to local needs.
