We provide activities and services for people with learning and physical disabilities
FSNP provides people with a learning disability/difficulty services and activities which enhance their life, improves social skills as well as health and wellbeing through a range of activities such as out of school clubs, playschemes, adult drama group, social activities , training and lifeskills activities for young adults. We believe that people with a disability should be included in all parts of their community, our mission is to help them do this by including the community in our project
Why the community needs usWe are based in one of the most deprived areas of Liverpool. Community facilities are few and far between, especially for people with a disability. We have close links with local groups such as the community federation, allotments group etc and we have opened our centre to the Health Forum and a group for older people so they can continue to run. Without the activities we offer many of the people using our centre would be at risk on the streets or remain isolated at home.
Our impact on the communityOur work enables people with a disability to gain valuable work experiences through volunteering, offers families respite through our playschemes/out of school activities. Offers lifeskills training and gives people with a disability the chance to do things in their social life which non disabled people sometimes take for granted.
As an organisation which relies totally on grant aid and fundraising by supporters we try to offer a service which is responsive to need, supportive and effective
FSNP welcome the involvement of volunteers in many areas of the project. Our volunteers work as minibus drivers, mentors, playworkers, drama group helpers/performers and fundraisers as well as serving on our committee. We are currently really in need of people who can drive the minibus we use to bring the children in during the playscheme and on Saturdays.
