We train and preform routines at school fetes and old peoples homes. We also take part in comps
We are a local youth group of Majorettes. We train twice weekly and our aims are to promote the health and well being of youngsters and keep them off the streets and interested in a hobby. We consist of approx 20 to 30 members.
We are totally self funded. And rely on funding from subs, donations and fund raising. We belive that there should be more help out there to introduce the young people of the future to do outdoor activities rather than hanging around street corners.
Why the community needs usWe perform events for the community and we also have performed events for the London Borough of Havering. We also keep young members of the community involved in Majorettes to keep them interested in a hobby. There are not enouth youth groups in the borough. There is also limited funding and it is difficult to survive in this day and age.
Our impact on the communityThe positive outcomes are that our members perform routines competitions and carnivals. This is a good exercise programme and team building thus enabling them to work out how to make up certain routines and exercise at the same time. Recently we took part in the New Years day parade with the Mayor of Havering Mayor Melvin Wallace. This exercise is fun as well as teaching our members the importance of raising funds for charity, The Mayors charity this year 2011/12 is St Francis Hospice.
Havering Majorettes is a youth group open to ages from 4+ We are always looking for ex Majorettes to come and help train the members.
