Creating green jobs training, work placements & enterprise support for young east Londoners
Now more than ever, we see an urgent need to provide meaningful work and training for young people and to address environmental and social injustice. Our Green Jobs programme is developing ways to tackle these pressing generational issues together in east London, creating a physical community hub, training programme, work placements and mentoring which will equip young people with the skills and experience to gain work and create enterprises that benefit both them and the wider world.
Why the community needs usOur 'green jobs pipeline' will create new routes for young out-work-Londoners from joblessness through training and into new green careers fit for the future. Our East London Green Jobs Alliance will bring together local businesses, trainers, unions and community groups to make it happen and to push for decent living wages and meaningful work to be key elements of 'green jobs'. And our centre will be a visible, welcoming, inspiring community hub for training, placements and mentoring work.
Our impact on the communityTackling both youth unemployment and the need to green our economy, our training & our Green Ventures centre will provide workless east Londoners with job readiness skills, paid work placements with inspiring organisations, environmental knowledge necessary for careers in green trades and - for young people with entrepreneurial flair - support and mentorship to start up their own enterprise ideas for creating social or environmental improvements in their community or the wider world.
