Provide a safe place for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse to move forward in their lives.
To provide a safe place for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse to share experiences, develop strategies and skills that will enable them to move forward in their lives and prevent them feeling isolated.
Why the community needs usWe are there to help, encourage and support. Surviving Together offers the only self-help group for Norwich and covers a county wide area. Survivors find understanding and friendship; are offered experience of new therapies; find information about other services; break feelings of isolation; make new friends; have fun together.
Our impact on the communityGains in confidence, self belief, ability to trust, reduced anger. Best of all, a readiness to move on and make the most of life, career and friendship. It happens! We have survivors now working in the community and giving back help to others in need.
We are a small group run by volunteers. We are looking for women who feel they can join the committee and help with the general organisation and running of Surviving Together. Skills such as fundraising, computer technology (particularly managing the web page), accountancy etc would be welcome. We are not a counselling service but we do also need sensitive, empathetic women to act as facilitators for the groups, either occasionally or on a regular basis.
