100km Fundraising Walk in the Italian Alps - SUCCESSFUL!
In August one of our Diploma Students Vicki and husband Paul will undertake a 100km walk through the Gran Paradiso National Park in the Italian Alps. This includes 6km vertical ascent, 5 cols, walking over glaciers and fording streams. Vicki says "my surgeon told me that I would not be able to climb mountains any more, due to a previous ankle injury, but maybe could walk up to 10 km in valley bottoms". She intends to disprove that and raise as much money as possible for Willows along the way!
Why they need our service Willows provides professional counselling to over 200 clients a year in the Swindon area from a team of 40 voluntary counsellors. We have leading edge expertise with clients who have complex, long-term issues. 50% of our clients experience the effects of trauma as a result of abuse or neglect, often experienced in childhood. Many of them struggle to complete education and gain meaningful employment. We fundraise to subsidise the cost of providing counselling. Your help is essential, thank you!
Plan and expected results All our clients self-refer to us, although often via recommendation from GPs, LIFT Psychology and other agencies. As a charity we encourage clients to donate towards the cost, although we never make this a barrier to those in real need. Many clients cannot contribute much due to their circumstances, so your donation makes it possible for more clients to receive counselling. Your donation will enable us to see more clients each year!
