Whitlingham Boathouses is a sports charity in Norwich focussed on community rowing and canoeing.
The objects are to advance amateur sport and healthy recreation for the public benefit and in particular water sports including rowing and canoeing by managing and assisting in the provision of facilities at Whitlingham Norwich encouraging community participation
Why the community needs usOur project is to build a new canoeing and rowing centre which will provide both recreational and competitive facilities for all elements of the community in Norwich and Norfolk. It will provide opportunities for people of all ages with disabilities to canoe and row on the same basis as able-bodied people. We will also open rowing and canoeing to people from disadvantaged groups in Norfolk who are unable to afford club subscriptions through support from a bursary scheme.
Our impact on the community- Provide new access to community rowing, canoeing and fitness activities both on and off water for disabled people in Norfolk (4 special adaptive (disabled) boats have been procured)- Provide new access to community rowing and canoeing facilities regardless of the means to fund subscriptions (a bursary scheme has been created)- Establish a new community recreational rowing and canoeing facility (a new fleet of recreational boats has been procured)
